The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) will be traveling to The Netherlands and Belgium during Tulip Time as their annual fundraiser. Hosted by AMA Waterways, this seven night river cruise from April 3-10, 2017 is one not to be missed! Deadline to book this trip of a lifetime is December 1, 2016. This adventure is open to the library community and their family and friends. There are no membership requirements in order to participate. Come along and travel the world with us!

Travelers will arrive and depart from Amsterdam, a modern city with a rich and fascinating 700-year old history with time to explore its unique and elegant architecture, lively cafés and markets, and vibrant nightlife. Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges and Rotterdam are some of the towns that travelers will be able to explore. A tulip farm, the Royal Palace, the Van Gogh collection at the Kröller Müller Museum, Antwerp Castle in Belgium, Belgian chocolate tasting, guided bike rides, and The Hague, are just a few of the choices travelers may choose to tour during this cruise. A complete, detailed itinerary can be found here.

Nonrefundable deposits are due upon booking – $400 per person. Port charges are $168 per person. We still have some space available on our Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) trip to southern France in October 2013, and some updates to the itinerary as well!

This is the fourth fundraising trip hosted by ASCLA, a division of ALA. Previous adventures include Paris, Ireland and Italy! This adventure is open to the library community; there are no membership requirements in order to participate. Previous travelers have brought spouses, siblings and friends along.

Travelers will arrive in Nice on October 6, then transfer to Les-Baux-de-Provence. From Les Baux, the trip will explore the Luberon Valley, full of vineyards, lavender fields, olive groves and charming towns like L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Gordes; Avignon; Arles; Nimes and Pont du Gard. On Oct. 9, we’ll depart for St. Tropez, with evening accommodations in La Croix-Valmer. Day tours include Grimaud and St. Tropez. Then we’ll proceed to Monaco, with a visit to Gassin or Ramatuelle and Saint-Paul-de-Vence along the way. While in Monaco, we’ll make a day trip to visit the Nice Library, Antibes and Cannes. We’ll also tour Monaco, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, the neo-romanesque cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier are entombed; and Jardins St. Martin. Download a complete trip itinerary.

ASCLA in Italy: Reservation deadline for tour of Rome and Amalfi Coast extended to Sept. 21

The last day to reserve your spot for “ASCLA in Italy”, a trip hosted by the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of ALA, is Sept. 21, 2012.

This trip abroad will take place April 15-24, 2013, and all interested travelers are welcome—you do not need to be a member in order to participate. Voyagers will convene in Rome, then head to the Amalfi Coast, spending time in Sorrento, Puglia, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Sorrento and Capri. Upon returning to Rome, tour participants will visit  the National Library, the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

“ASCLA in Italy” follows a sold out adventure to Paris, taken earlier in 2012, and an upcoming tour of Ireland this October. A portion of all these trips benefits ASCLA, the division of ALA serving state library agencies, specialized libraries, library cooperatives, special populations librarians and library consultants.

The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) is following up its sold-out Paris trip with a fall trip to Ireland in 2012, inviting you to join us as we explore the emerald isle, its castles, libraries and important historic sites.

The trip will run Oct. 4-12, 2012 and will include hotels and transportation to Dublin, Kilkenny, Cork, Cobh and Killarney; four dinners; tours of the National Library and the Killarney Library, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, Powerscourt Gardens, Kilkenny and Blarney Castles and the Ring of Kerry. Participants will also tour Waterford Crystal, visit the heritage center in Cobh to learn more about important Irish historical events such as the mass migration of Irish to America and throw back a pint at a pub established in 1703. Participants are responsible for their own airfare.
