There are several advocacy activities that ASCLA members may want to participate in at the ALA Annual Conference.  On Friday, July 10, there is an Advocacy Institute, “Surviving in a Tough Economy,” being held from 2-5 p.m. in the Harold Washington Library Center in Multipurpose Rooms A&B.  ALA President Jim Rettig’s panel discussion, “Building Statewide Coalition for All Libraries in a Tough Economy,” takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. in McCormick Place West in Room 196b on Saturday, July 11.

There are smaller training/conversation groups regarding the important topic of advocacy that you might also want to be aware of:  The Advocacy Coordinating Group meets on Saturday from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Palmer House Hilton in Dearborn 1.  The Advocacy Training Subcommittee meeting is also on Saturday from 10:30-noon in the Hilton Chicago Conference Room 4G and the Advocacy Committee is meeting on Sunday from 10:30-noon in the Hilton Chicago Conference Room 5E.
