ASCLA/COSLA Reception at Midwinter Meeting, San Diego

We had a fantastic time socializing and honoring members’ achievements at the reception in Washington, D.C., and we invite you to join the party in San Diego! This event is for all ASCLA members and we encourage you to bring a friend or colleague—especially one who might be interested in becoming a part of the ASCLA family. The fun happens Sunday, January 9, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the Manchester C Room of the Manchester Grand Hyatt, 1 Market Place, San Diego. We hope to see you there!

Independent Library Exchange (ILEX) Programs at ALA Midwinter

ILEX members will be very busy at ALA Midwinter.  Join us for any of our three activities.

On Friday, January 6 ILEX will again offer the popular Assembling a Consulting Toolkit:  What You Need to Know to Become a Successful Library Consultant. In order to make this workshop more accessible to those on a tight budget, the working lunch has been eliminated from the agenda. The price has been reduced to $215 for ASCLA members, $225 for ALA members, $260 for non-members of ALA, and $170 for retired and student members of ALA.

More information can be found at this ASCLA blog post: http://ascla.ala.org/blog/2010/12/mw11-consulting-pricedrop/

On Saturday, January 7, ILEX has two activities planned.  From 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. the ILEX Executive Committee will meet.  If you would like to get more involved in ILEX and learn the nitty-gritty of a section within ASCLA, join us for this meeting.

Also on Saturday, January 7, from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. the ILEX forum will be held. The forum is really for our members and others interested in consulting, however, we are offering three possible topics for discussion:  Getting started, networking for consulting opportunities;  What is ILEX and what does it do?; and, What can ILEX members do to help other ILEX members?  Please come and share your ideas.
