The Library Consultant’s Interest Group (LCIG) regrets to say that it is not offering the popular Consultant’s Networking Luncheon at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Chicago.  With the high (and ever rising) cost of local venues for the luncheon, LCIG has have decided to take a bit of a break to consider new strategies to bring you a program that has high value and sustainability.  We want to include networking, mentoring, new skills, and information on trends in our field — at an affordable cost and with a high factor of fun!

The cost to hold a luncheon is mostly determined by the facility — and costs are rising.  The midwinter meeting would have brought our ticket price to an all-time high of $100 —  which we felt would be out of reach for most of the participants.  One idea that we are field-testing to offset rising costs is a sponsorship program that would allow us to bring in high-profile guest speakers.

If you are interested in helping with the ALA Conference Program side of things in LCIG let us know!  We’d love to have your input!

No luncheon?  No Problem! If you are attending midwinter and simply would like to connect with the LCIG group, we want to connect with you.  We are currently in the process of scheduling an open meeting opportunity during the early Sunday evening of the conference (final time and location pending as of publication of this article).  We would love to meet you — if you are interested please contact me directly at librarylandtech@gmail.com with “LCIG Midwinter” as the subject line.
